Today was the first full day of the visit to the U.S by Masa's Seahorse International soccer club. They started off their morning by traveling to Biola for some soccer drills and games with the Biola mens soccer team, the same on that will be traveling to Japan this summer. The team presented the boys with a Biola backpack as a memory. After the clinic/games, it was back to the hotel and a lunch of McDonald's while in the car on the way down to Newport Beach (Balboa Peninsula). They then got to spend 2 1/2 hours on a boat for a whale watching adventure. We saw one whale, lots of dolphins (who played with the boat), and some sea lions and seals. After whale watching, it was a walk on the pier to get ice cream at Ruby's (and a visit with a boa constrictor) followed by a walk on the beach to play in the water. The day ended with dinner at Vinny's pizza in La Mirada. The boys (9-11 year-olds) were very tired from the plane ride, a day on the ocean, and slept most of the time in the car on the way back.
Day 2 began with a pancake breakfast at Gil & Sue Mellis' house. Breakfast consisted of fruit and Mickey Mouse pancakes (and 1 Minnie). Then it was off to the Brea sports complex for some games with Matt Morse's teams. Lunch followed at the food court in the Brea Mall. (This is all that I was a part of).
